It’s always great fun shooting portraits at Bond Street Studios. My uncle Neil was getting family portraits taken. There was some spare time towards the end, so we tested some different lighting setups. Neil has such a great face for photography. I did not want to let the opportunity to do what I love to pass me by.  This particular image was just an outtake from the original edit. When I revisited the files a while later, there was just something raw about the image that I really loved.

For this image, I developed a specific Black & White layered colour grade in Photoshop CC. It’s a really contrasty treatment. Not a very flattering look for the subject, but very effective. My idea was to really enhance and bring out Neil’s natural freckles, skin features and tonality.
